CBD - Melbourne Exhibition Building

I visited the AFI red carpet last night at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. This photo is of the always angelic Cate Blanchett. Unfortunately, I did not have my usual SLR camera and instead was using a simple point and shoot. And to make matters worse my camera battery died. I was unable to ask Cate for a proper photo but I did ask her who she was wearing. She replied with “Rodarte, a new American brand.”

Cate’s shift was adorned with pleated undulating waves of creamy peach chiffon. The hand-finished subtle detailing in organic forms is a classic signature of Rodarte.

As mentioned in my previous post, Rodarte were runners up in the 2006 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award. A spread of all the nominees is featured in the November issue of US Vogue... and how ironic that featured on the cover is the one and only Cate Blanchett!!

I think this shot is beautiful. Even though its not a frontal shot of Cate, it still captures the moment and her etheral beauty.

agree. this shot is better than the ones i've seen of her from the front.

she has a much better side profile.

as for rodarte, love 'em. their pieces are just beautiful. can't wait to see more of them on the red carpet.
