CBD - Collins Street

What are you wearing?
Some black shorts and an old shirt from my dad from the 80s which I just pulled from his wardrobe in a fashion crisis.. that’s always one of the first places I go, what does dad have! Some little Lacoste sneakers and an old suitcase of my grandmothers which is this ribbon cane thing.

What’s your style?
I basically try to do what other people aren’t. I try to avoid major trends that everyone has kind of caught on to and is being reproduced by every label, expensive and cheap.

If you had as much money as you wanted, what would you splurge on?
I’m a big fan of Marc Jacobs. Basically because he kind of goes against what everyone else is doing, eg. his grunge period for Perry Ellis.

Any particular piece from the recent collections that you found was a standout?
There was some Christian Dior Couture stuff. One of the gowns was particularly mimicking origami, I found that interesting, how they had sewn the fabric to look like paper.

Favourite thing about Melbourne?
The different types of people..

I really fell in love with the way this girl pulled her style together. From the two-toned specs, deconstructed NY tee, and the subtle tattoo lettering. You have to enlarge this shot!!

It's great to see support for Aussie labels.. the overalls are Lover and the tee is by a relatively new Bondi label Thousand Reasons. Thousand Reasons are known for their clashing colors and graphics... and apparently they've already secured stockists in Los Angeles, New York, London, Sweden and Japan. Any thoughts on another Tsubi style invasion?

What are you wearing?
Nike Air bursts, some really old school Lee jeans – they were really baggy and I recently got them tailored. A Tommy Hillfiger polo with a Y3 belt… American Apparel jacket.

What’s your style?
Simple, a bit preppy, with a bit of street. I love my sneakers

Classic Nike sneakers?
Yeah, I love my Nike kicks. I used to work there so I’ve got a bit of a sneaker collection… I got kind of addicted with them at one stage.

What are your favourite labels?
Dior homme, D squared… Balenciaga. I love the simplicity of Jill Sander. And I just saw the fall collection for Gucci, and I think it’s just amazing.

What do you do?
Apart from fashion, I’m a dancer as well. I think music is a big part of fashion as well. It sets a kind of trend and a tone to your style... I’m big on hip-hop.

Favorite thing about Meloburne?
The randomness…the weather, the people… Everything’s up in the air. That’s what’s fantastic about Melbourne.
